Handmade Christmas Cards on a Budget by Hannah

Sending handmade Christmas cards is a lovely touch and can
be done with minimal fuss and materials.

We sell packs of 50 blank cards in various sizes in cream
and white and individual coloured pens starting at £1.30 and packs of pens for
as little as £2.50 for 10 colours.

We have used a Tombow pen for our cards, preferring it’s dual end with a brush end and a smaller bullet nib end, however any coloured pen or pencil would do and you would be surprised at how simple it is to make some really effective card designs using only one or two colours.

Using a square card from an Anita’s card pack and a Tombow pen in green (number 245) I have created a very simple design just drawing triangles using the brush end and then adding a little trunk in green with the smaller nib. I used the smaller nib to also write Merry Christmas in cursive writing.

You could simply leave the design as it is in just the one colour, which means it will not take you too long to draw out a few cards, however I used a gelly roll pen in the 08 size and my current favourite pen, the Tombow calligraphy pen with the softer nib, to add a few more details, some white dots to indicate snow on the trees and I went over the green writing using the calligraphy pen.

Another simple design to draw out is some holly leaves and
berries, you will just need a red and green pen and pencil.

The cards look really great and were very quick and easy to
make.

If you already have craft supplies at home, including
watercolour paints or acrylic paints you could even use those to paint out some
quick designs!

The price of each card and envelope can work out a lot cheaper than buying them individually in shops depending on the materials you use and you also have the added bonus of them being handmade and completely unique!
