We are re-opening our Ely shop from Wednesday 8th July – please see our stores page for opening hours – the link is below.

We will be re-opening our Cambridge and Newmarket shops from Wednesday 17th June on a trial basis under ‘new normal’ conditions. Our Colchester and Ely shops will remain closed during this trial period.

As many of you who visit our shops will know we have far less space than Tescos so we will have to limit the number of folk at any one time so please note the following safety measures

*Card payments only – no cash

*Observe social distancing

*We will operate on a one in – one out basis

With this in mind everyone will appreciate it if you have an idea of a shopping list when visiting. If there is no queue then by all means take all the time you wish.

Our shop hours will be less than usual as will our staff levels, we will be closing for lunch so our staff can have a break – shop hours may be found here https://www.tindalls.co.uk/stores

Our collect in store service remains suspended for the time being during the trial period – we will review this on a regular basis.

Tindalls Paper Gift vouchers can only be used in-store but we can convert them to an electronic gift voucher to use on the website. Please post your vouchers to the address below. On receipt we will change them into an electronic gift voucher that can be used on our website and email the code to you.

Please ensure you clearly print your email address on your note.

If we cannot supply any item on your order we will refund you.

Our stock levels are not currently live between our shop systems and website so items on the website are shown as ‘in stock’ in order to facilitate ordering.

Delivery timescale update:


2nd July update – we thought that the Royal Mail were catching up and things have improved, however we have today seen the tracking for a signed for order that has taken 1 day short of a calendar month to arrive

Numerous reports from customers are letting us know that orders are taking around 20 days to arrive.

If you have not received your order 1 month after we have sent you the email saying that we have shipped please do get in touch.

The reports that we are receiving from friends in the local sorting office is that the level of small parcel post is currently far higher than the busiest ever Christmas. Of course the Royal Mail not only have a reduced workforce but they will not know from day to day who will be coming to work making their logistics very difficult.

Our thoughts are with our colleagues in the Royal Mail who we are sure will be doing their absolute best whilst staying safe.


2nd July update – one of our main suppliers of brushes has re-opened and our order has been placed – hopefully this will see folk getting the exact sizes they have ordered again.

We are now getting very short of or have sold out of some brushes and unfortunately some of our key suppliers are not operating so we are unable to get more stock.

We will be substituting where we feel we can, refunding where we cannot. This may mean a different manufacturer of the same type or one size up or down in the smaller sizes.

If you do not want to accept this please do not order brushes from us at all – we are simply too busy at the moment with reduced staff to be having a backwards and forwards conversation about alternatives and sizes as we usually would, sorry.
