This Week at Tindalls: 24th – 30th July

Hi again!

Welcome to this week’s ‘This Week at Tindalls’! In case you missed last week’s update, these posts are a little update on what’s been going on at Tindalls and it’s your chance to see what goes on at all our workshops. We’ve had lots going on this past week and a lot of new things to tell you about it which will all be revealed soon…

So, here’s a little rundown of the workshops we’ve held in the past week at Tindalls…

Our very own Shannon Adams from our Colchester store has been holding her own workshops recently and we think it’s pretty safe to say that’s she multi-talented! Every workshop is a completely different subject and they just get more and more surprising! Check out the results of her recent origami workshop below:

Shannon is going to be a very busy bee this summer, she’s holding a lot of workshops that we’re yet to announce – so keep an eye out for an update in the next few days where we’ll be announcing all of Shannon’s upcoming workshops.

Robyn Parker-Love is one of our favourite tutors at Tindalls, she’s an incredible artist and an amazing photographer – we get so much good feedback from her students that most of her workshops sell out months in advance! Here’s her recent Sealife in Polychromos workshop at our Colchester store:

Robyn has already sold out her next three workshops but don’t worry, she’s got some more coming up but be quick! If the other workshops are anything to go by, these are going to sell out FAST.

This Week at Tindalls: 17th – 23rd July

Hi everyone!

Welcome to your new weekly Tindalls update where we’ll be updating you on all the goings-on at Tindalls! As you may already know, we hold workshops throughout the week from some of the best local artists but we know that some of you may not be aware of these workshops (which is a huge shame as you’re really missing out!).

So, here’s a little rundown of the workshops we’ve held in the past week at Tindalls…

Tom Mulliner was at our Colchester store sharing his secrets to his amazing photo realistic portraits and the results are incredible!

Take a look at the photos below!

The students used the Jakar Compressed Charcoal set for the main portion of the illustration and then used the Derwent Charcoal Pencils for the finer details.

Tom is one of our favourite artists and is a regular tutor at Tindalls. If you’d like to take part in one of Tom’s workshops, you’re in luck! Tom has TWO upcoming workshops at our Colchester store:

Two time RHS – Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medal winner, Janie Pirie, was once again at our Colchester store teaching her students how to draw summer fruits good enough to eat!

The students used embossing tools for details along with Polychromos and Luminance pencils to create some delicious looking summer fruits.

Janie is one of our regular tutors so has a ton of workshops coming up that we’re sure you’ll love! Take a look below!

Loïs Cordelia is absolutely everywhere so of course she was at our Colchester store last week teaching her students how to capture a portrait on a mid-tone background

The students used a variety of tools to help them put their portraits together including Mi-Teintes Pastel Paper, Faber-Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils, Derwent Sketching Pencils, and Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer Watercolour Pencils.

Now, as we mentioned earlier, Loïs is everywhere so she has an insane amount of workshops coming up so we’re not going to be able to list them all here but if you’d like take a look at the full list, you can visit our workshop listings at:

Here’s a small selection of Loïs’ upcoming workshops:

Cambridge Open Studios 2017

In case you didn’t know already…

Cambridge Open Studios is a yearly month-long summer art event, which features an exciting range of exhibitions by 350 artists at 221 locations in the city and surrounding areas.

Artists of many different kinds open their doors to the public over the first four weekends in July. Among the huge range of specialisms are: fine art, photography, pottery, glass making, sculpture, illustration, textiles, jewellery and furniture making, and more besides.

As we are halfway through July, we’re two weekends down, two to go! But what have we got coming up?

We couldn’t possibly list every single artist so here’s our pick of artists that will be opening their doors this coming weekend:

169 Jamie Sugg – Painter

Local landscape artist, Jamie Sugg, will be welcoming visitors on weekend’s 3 & 4 of July to view his acrylic and watercolour paintings inspired by the play and interaction of light on the landscape and in the skies surrounding him.

25 Chantal Lipscombe – Painter

Taking inspiration from her home in the Hertfordshire countryside, Chantal’s watercolour designs focus primarily on British wildlife. Using striking, loose strokes from a vibrant palette, she aims to depict the character of creatures that live near her cottage in the depth of the country. She will be welcoming visitors for the remaining two weekends!
