On this day course you will be working from life to accurately illustrate a flowerhead. You will observe your chosen subject in detail looking at it from all angles and will have the opportunity to dissect your flower and look within to observe the botanical structure. In the morning, we will practice our observational drawing and complete a sketchbook page. You will be taught colour pencil techniques such as blending, layering, and embossing to colour match to your subject and realistically depict details. Ink techniques will be covered including line drawing and stippling. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to work on a finished drawing of your chosen flower.

Vicky is a botanical artist and illustrator who works in Cambridge. Vicky has many years teaching experience including working as an associate lecturer at university in drawing and design and teaching adult education courses. Vicky is a Fellow Member of the Society of Botanical Artists and a member of both the Iceni Botanical Artists and Cambridge Open Studios. More information can be found on her webpage: www.vickyhallamdesigns.com. Whilst drawing experience is helpful, this hands-on workshop is suitable for all levels. All materials will be provided.
