An Introduction to Acrylic Painting & Lyrical Abstract Expressionism With Mirko Junkovic

This is an opportunity to enjoy the infinite possibilities of acrylic paint without the concerns of an external subject matter. In fact, picture making or direct reference to a subject matter is put to one side for the day; the potentialities of the paint are the subject matter.

The medium for the day is acrylic paint. It has been available since the early sixties providing a new alternative to the traditions of oil paint. Acrylic is versatile; it is water based, can be diluted, used straight from the tube, applied to a variety of surfaces and dries very quickly. The possibilities are magical and endless.

The day will encourage you to call upon and connect with your intuition and inner-self to begin to develop a personal mode of expression. In the morning you will be guided through a range of methods and techniques that can be used to apply paint, informed by a range of established abstract expressionist painters, before having an opportunity to create your own works in the afternoon.

No previous experience is necessary, just an open mind towards creative experimentation, exploration and discovery.
