STABILO CarbOthello pastel pencils combine the expressive qualities of traditional chalk pastels with the precision and convenience of a wooden pencil. Their highly pigmented leads produce rich colour with a dry, slightly dusty texture similar to charcoal, making them particularly well suited to drawing, portraiture, landscapes and detailed pastel artwork.
The colours can be layered, blended and smudged using your fingers or a blending stump, allowing you to create soft transitions, subtle shading and more expressive effects.

Blend, Layer and Use with Water
STABILO CarbOthello pencils can be blended dry to create smooth colour transitions and soft pastel effects. They are also partially aquarellable, allowing the pigments to be worked with a brush and water while visible contours remain.
The pencils can produce particularly striking results on dark-coloured surfaces and specialist pastel papers, where the highly pigmented shades stand out clearly.
For finished work, the use of a suitable pastel fixative can help protect the surface and reduce smudging.
